Alterations and Additions
The main concern with additions is to ensure,
that whilst there is always an element of “one or two steps
backwards” through demolition, the finished product adds
value as well as having spaces “re-defined” to reflect the
changing needs of the family. We have had extensive
experience of designing and actually building a very wide
range of additions from pre-war
Queenslanders
on small lots through to large homes, and can advise on the
merits and pitfalls of such.
There have been many instances where the home
has been in the family for some time and the family need has
outgrown the home in function and fashion. By function we
mean that with a growing family, the needs of the members
have changed, along with changes in leisure and
entertainment. The additions must address these, as well as
catering for as many situations as possible for future
owners. Careful consideration to the appearance of the
additions will re-enforce the existing structure, and
matching or contrasting techniques need to be explored to
ensure the total finished project looks great!
